As a project of the U.S. Department of Education, America’s Career Resources Network (ACRN) through the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) has a number of resources that can help educators address learning standards, involve the community in learning, and help students transition successfully from school to work. Programs are available for all ages from elementary school to adult. As the National Training Support Center (NTSC) for ACRN, we distribute some of the newest and most engaging “hands-on” career planning materials anywhere, for both youth and adults, including the National Career Development Guidelines; twelve nationally recognized career management competencies required for self-sufficiency; The Real Game Series with its enriching, career-planning and workforce development initiatives; and the increasingly popular Life Work Portfolio. The NTSC, which is located at a public community college, is a federally funded office that not only distributes these materials but also provides training in order to effectively implement and sustain these programs.
