131. Breaking Up is Hard to Do: Creating Smaller Learning Communities

High School Level Session

Category: School Environment
Time: Saturday, February 22, 1:00pm-2:30pm
Room: 6-F

They say that breaking up is hard to do, and they are right. Creating smaller learning communities in our schools is one of the hardest jobs facing administrators today. Trying to harmonize our faculty, staff, parents, students and community partners into a Grammy award winning program will require every ounce of know-how we possess as educational leaders. Come and learn how one large rural high school has accomplished this by grouping its students into 11 career academies.

Presenter(s) for this Session:

Patti Brown
Assistant Principal Intern
Davis School District
Farmington, UT

Scott Nielson
Project Director Smaller Learning Communities
Northridge High School
Layton, UT
