Urban Viewpoint Session-How the Latino Explosion is Changing the American Educational System, Or At Least Should BeA Harvard Chicano Offers Insights, Experiences, and Provocation
Category: Challenging Every Student
Time: Saturday, February 28, 7:00am-8:30am
Room: The Rosen Centre Hotel - Salons 9 & 10
NASSP in Cooperation with Texas Instruments
Although he is currently known as a nationally syndicated columnist for the Editorial Board who frequently writes about education and Latino issues, Ruben Navarrette, Jr. once worked as a substitute teacher at the K-12 level in Central California and has both a personal and professional interest in how well America’s public schools are serving an exploding Latino student population. The two-time Harvard graduate offers his own report card, as well as sharing his own odyssey of going from a small town in California's San Joaquin Valley to one of the most prestigious universities in the country. He helps demystify this important population and explains what the principals of today can do to inspire Latino students to help them turn into the leaders of tomorrow.
